Questionnaire Analysis:

Audience Research Analysis:

In this questionnaire a total of 55% who answered it were female and 45% were male and the predominant age of people who answered was 17-19 years of age. I also found that the significant majority do in fact enjoy music videos, with 91% stating they do. The reasoning for yes was that they 'bring a story to the lyrics and song itself' and 'gives a reason behind the music'. The answer of it tells a story was very frequent and as this is a reason for why the majority enjoy music videos this tells me for my own music video I should definitely focus on putting a story across.

A narrative that I could put across is the 'boy meets girl narrative' and from my results I found whether my target audience like this narrative as well as their opinion on this narrative. The responses were varied for example one person said 'yes because it is a representation of real life', but someone also said 'yeah but sometimes its a little cliche'. This second response tells us that this narrative can be rather run down and by following the stereotypes of this narrative some people may be bored and not be engaged with the video as what they see is seen in most pop videos. But this narrative is still enjoyed by the vast majority therefore we can assume that the audience enjoy it when it is done right.
A rather surprising result was that my target audience do not seem to have a significant majority opinion on the amount of settings in the music video. The results showed that 55% prefer multiple settings and 45% prefer less settings. I believe both of these can be achieved in my own music video as u could have three settings with significant meaning in the narrative and a few others that don't, therefore somewhat providing for both preferences. I can see also in a later question that my audience in fact rate rather significantly that the editing and the narrative are the most important factors. But the setting is actually not seen as important with the people in the video being the least significant factor.

The last question asked was for some insight on how important do my audience think a music video is. As this is a generation that want to be engaged from the get go I was intrigued to see if they believed a music video could make a song they feel is bad, good. The responses were somewhat expected as most said, 'a bad song is a bad song'. But, one said 'it can make it more bearable' and this somewhat says to me a music video has the power to make people listen to a song that they otherwise wouldn't of found entertaining. Therefore, the music video can bring in an audience that otherwise wouldn't of wanted to listen to the audio. Also the visuals may also let people understand the audio more therefore they may like the song if they understand the message.
